In connection with the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Basic Principles of Friendly Relations between Vietnam and Russia in 2019 and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia in 2020, Vietnam and the Russian Federation agreed to hold a cross year: the Year of Vietnam in Russia and the Year of Russia in Vietnam, July 2-7, 2019. Leadership of the Moscow National Energy University, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, headed by the Rector of Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Prof, Dr. Sc Rogalev N.D. visited Vietnam. Leadership also includes the Vice-Rector for International Relations Tarasov A.E. and Acad. Prof. Shi Nguyen-Kuok, Department of General Physics and Nuclear Fusion.
During the visit to Vietnam, Leadership of MPEI visited and worked with Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), Institute of Technology (VinIT), Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic University (HCMUT), Oriental Research Development Institute (ORDI), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), Institute of Nanotechnology (INT) directly under Ho Chi Minh City National University (VNUHCM).
1. On July 2, 2019, at 16:30, the leaders of MPEI visited and worked with the leaders and a number of staff of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU).
VNU was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr., Director Nguyen Kim Son, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deputy Director Pham Bao Son and some rectors of member universities; MPEI was represented by Rector Rogalev N.D., Prorector Tarasov A.E. and Prof. Shi Nguyen-Kuok (Chairman of VinIT).
In the meeting, the leaders of the two sides exchanged specific issues, such as the ranking of universities in the world and the contribution of those universities to the national economy; a focal point for developing relations between universities of Russia and Vietnam; share experiences and models of MPEI’s successful cooperative organization; cooperation and support in the development of energy technology and information technology industries at member universities directly under the Hanoi National University; lecturers and students exchange program; signing a Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the two diploma’s training program.
2. On July 3, 2019 at 09:30, the leaders of MPEI visited and worked with the leaders and some officials of VinIT.
VinIT was represented by Prof. Shi Nguyen-Kuok (Chairman of VinIT), Director Nguyen Tien Vo, Dr. Nguyen Nghia, Secretary of Science Council and some members of the Institute; MPEI was represented by Rector Rogalev N.D., Prorector Tarasov A.E.
During the meeting, VinIT announced the results of ongoing technology projects such as the project of treating municipal solid waste by plasma gasification; waste water treatment project, leachate water treatment project, shrimp farming water treatment project by combinating electrochemical technologies with cold plasma technology and other technologies; medical device project for healing wound, aesthetics by cold plasma; My Son (Quang Nam) sanctuary restoration and conservation project.
In addition, there are a number of other technologies that are preparing to be deployed such as nuclear transformation equipment projects; project of drinking water and algae treatment by cold plasma technology, preservation of agricultural products and food by cold plasma and equipment for sterilizing medical equipment by cold plasma. The two parties discussed the possibilities and methods of cooperation in the future. The leaders of MPEI and VinIT signed a strategic partnership agreement in the fields of education and training, scientific research.
3. On July 4, 2019 at 08:30, leaders of MPEI and VinIT visited and worked with Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic University (HCMUT)
HCMUT was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong – Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Minh Phuong – Vice Rector and the leaders of functional departments. MPEI was represented by Rector Rogalev N.D., Prorector Tarasov A.E. and Prof. Shi Nguyen-Kuok (VinIT).
During the meeting, the parties exchanged specific contents, such as: training cooperation between MPEI and HCMUT; cooperation in scientific and technological research between VinIT and HCMUT, in which the fields need to be focused and interested are material technology, energy technology, electric & electronic technology, mechatronics technology, mechanical technology, information technology and technical physics. At the end of the meeting, the leaders of the parties agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in training and scientific and technological research cooperation.
4. On July 4, 2019 at 11:00, the MPEI and VinIT leaders visited and worked with the Leaders of Oriental Research Development Institute (ORDI).
ORDI was represented by Prof., Dr. Director Trinh Quang Thang, Nguyen, Former Minister of Education and Training Tran Hong Quan, Prof. Director of Ton Duc Thang University, Le Vinh Danh and members of the Institute; MPEI was represented by Rector Rogalev N.D., Prorector Tarasov A.E. and Acad. Prof. Shi Nguyen-Kuok (VinIT).
During the meeting, the leaders of the two sides exchanged some specific contents such as some educational methods and models, cooperating to implement projects to assess the economic trend of Vietnam in the future.
On this occasion, Director of ORDI Trinh Quang Phu, which authorized by the Prof. Dang Vu Minh, President of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, awarded medal for the career of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations to Rector Rogalev N.D.
In this working session, the two parties exchanged preliminary discussions on a number of educational cooperation contents in the fields of electrical engineering and energy engineering between Ton Duc Thang University, Can Tho University and MPEI.
5. Also on July 4, 2019 at 14:00, leaders of MPEI and VinIT visited and worked with the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH).
MPEI was represented by Rector Rogalev N.D., Prorector Tarasov A.E. and Acad. Prof. Shi Nguyen-Kuok (VinIT). HUTECH was represented by Prof. Dr.Sc, Rector Ho Dac Loc and relevant leaders. The two parties signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in joint research and training projects. HUTECH and MPEI committed to promoting cooperation between the two universities through the development of common resources in preparation for cooperation projects on science and technology, organization of scientific and technological events, and exchange of research resources, gradually supplement and complete necessary procedures to conduct exchange of researchers, lecturers and students as well as implementation of training cooperation programs.
Also in the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ho Dac Loc, HUTECH’s representative, signed an agreement “Collaborative scientific research exchange” with VinIT, establishing legal frameworks for the two parties to implement the next procedures related to science and technology projects.
6. On July 4, 2002 at 15:30, Leaders of MPEI consíting Rector Rogalev N.D., Prorector Tarasov A.E. and Prof. Shi Nguyen-Kuok (VinIT) visited and worked with Leaders of Institute of Nanotechnology (INT) directly under National University of Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM).
INT was represented by Prof. Dr. Sc., Director Dang Mau Chien, Deputy Director Doan Duc Chanh Tin.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged information on cooperation between MPEI and INT, such as: training cooperation; cooperate on scientific and technological research in the fields of material technology, energy technology, sensor technology and environmental technology. The two parties signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in training and scientific and technological research.
7. On July 5, 2019 at 18:00, leadership of MPEI consisting of Rector Rogalev N.D., Prorector Tarasov A.E. on international relation and Prof. Shi Nguyen-Kuok (VinIT) was welcomed by the Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha and discussed many issues of mutual concern.
Leadership of MPEI has reported to the Minister the results of working with universities and research institutes in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in the fields of training experts and research and application of science and technology, it is also one of the practical activities of the Cross Year: Vietnam Year in Russia and Russia Year in Vietnam.
Minister Phung Xuan Nha thanked MPEI for giving priority and special attention in training many energy and technical experts for Vietnam in past 65 years, they act as a core force in building Vietnam’s energy sector.
Leadership of MPEI also sincerely thanks for the warm welcome of the Minister, and is very happy to have the opportunity to sign many cooperation agreements with universities and research institutes in the fields of energy and technology of Vietnam.
The two parties discussed models and experiences in organizing higher education management and discussed new cooperation models between Vietnam and Russian energy and technology universities.
In order to promote the effective use of scientific and technological reserves of Vietnam and Russia, the two parties believed that it is necessary to build a new model in the form of a consortium of energy and technology universities between Vietnam and Russia aims to effectively exploit and use the reserve capacity of Vietnam and Russian universities to train energy and technology experts for Vietnam. At the same time, they agreed to assign MPEI to build a project to establish the consortium (association) to submit to the Government of Russia and Vietnam as soon as possible.
8. On 06/07/2019 from 08h00 to 13h00, the meeting and exchange between Leadership of MPEI and the former students of MPEI were held at Phuong Dong Private University, Hanoi.
Attending this special event, leadership of MPEI consisting of Rector Rogalev N.D., Prorector Tarasov A.E.on international relation and Prof. Shi Nguyen-Kuok. About 60 former students, representing the former students of MPEI generations attended, including Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thien Du, Rector of Phuong Dong Private University. The oldest senior former student participated in the meeting was Mr. Nguyen Quy Hoa, 87 years old (the 1962-1968 years) and the youngest of the MPEI students returned to Vietnam in 2019.
When the traditional music of MPEI was heard all the students in the hall stood up solemnly. After that, the videoclips introduced the loving university MPEI, as well as the former students generations images that were shown in the attentive observation of all attendees.
In this meeting and exchange, Rector Rogalev N.D. spoke and shared his thoughts and feelings in front of former students of MPEI. Rector Rogalev N.D. appreciate the efforts and achievements of former students of MPEI in the career of construction, national defense of Vietnam, as well as contribution to strengthening the friendship between the two peoples of Russia and Vietnam.
Speeches made by former students of MPEI: Bui Thien Du, Tran Chi Thanh, Bui Hai Son, Ngo Kieu Oanh, Truong Van Khanh Nhat, etc. all refer to sincere feelings and deep memories of former students of MPEI with our beloved teachers and university. Many emotions, memories and remembrances of a youthful time were are transmitted by former students of MPEI to teachers in the mission and representatives of former students generations. Sharing thoughts on the forum, all former students of MPEI expressed their gratitude to teachers and university that have trained and mentored them for important years on the path of learning and scientific research. It is a solid foundation and premise for successes in the way of scientific activities as well.
In an intimate, flowing with love for teachers and students atmosphere, former students of MPEI performed lyrical Russian songs that were deeply attached to one of their students time at their beloved university as future work in Vietnam.
The meeting and exchange between former students of MPEI and the leadership of Moscow National Energy University has achieved very good results. The program and script of the exchange were carefully prepared, thoroughly and richly. The former students of MPEI expressed their sincerity and gratitude for their university. Everyone feels younger and closer to the university of the most beautiful and brilliant spring time.
